Unofficial: Reasons why only the PS3 version has YouTube functionality

I posted this a while ago on the official Just Cause 2 forums and thought I should post it here too. Please note this is unofficial and hasn't been confirmed as the reason.

The reason why the PS3 has the exclusive YouTube functionality is because the YouTube API comes as part of the PS3 SDK (software development kit). This was first introduced and tested on a Japanese game Mainichi Issho in 2008. This meant that it was very easy to include into the PS3 version, as it literally came straight out of the box.

The Xbox 360 SDK on the other hand doesn't come with it, and it's not down to Hard Drive size or anything like that as previously suggested, it sadly just doesn't allow it. If Microsoft did include the YouTube API as part of the SDK, I'm sure it is a feature the developers would have loved to add to the Xbox 360 version. Now I believe that is as far as it goes in regards to exclusivity, so I don't think we'll be seeing an exclusive feature being announced for the X360 version.

As for the PC, well... in terms of the YouTube functionality, this will again be down to it not being included in the SDK, but PC users will definitely see a lot of other cool things that should make up for it.

For more information about the PS3 YouTube API and my source, see here: http://www.qj.net/qjnet/playstation-3/ps3-sdk-gets-youtube-upload-function-shows-it-off-in-mainichi-issho.html

I hope this answers a few of your questions.
