Mike Oldman to speak at the Develop Conference

Mike Oldman, our favourite Community Manager at Square Enix London Studios (aka Mycoldman) will be speaking at the Develop conference along with Jim Blackhurst (Online Operations Manager) down in Brighton, which is being held between the 13th - 15th July.

They will be there to talk about opening up player metrics to the community in Just Cause 2, or as none-geeky people will call it, Stat tracking, which was designed by Mike and developed by Jim. I'm definitely going to try and go... it's a lot of money, but will be interesting to see what they have to say about it, and also listen to the other speakers.

Source: Well, I was told by Mike but you can read the full lineup of the Dream Dozen here: http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2010/04/21/develops-dream-dozen/

Yep, Mycoldman is being called a dream... shocking, I know!

JC2-MP really does work!

The team behind the GTA mod SA-MP are currently developing a multiplayer mod for Just Cause 2 - JC2-MP - and have just released some more videos proving the current state of the sync between players and it truly does work!

This second video shows the perspective from another player, and you can clearly see how smooth the sync up is already.

It will be interesting to see how the syncing works when players are more spread out across the map. I certainly look forward to seeing more videos or perhaps even playing it myself.

Don't stop there guys, it's awesome what you're doing!

Full details: Live from Panau Island - The Final Show

Be part of the audience and participate in one of the most exciting fan site events and Live from Panau Island episodes yet, The Final Show!

That's right, for one time only on Saturday 1st May 2010, I will be hosting The Final Show live at one of London's top venues... and you're invited!

I've managed to keep this quite for some time now, but it's finally time to lift the lid on what I've got planned. The game may already be out, but the fun certainly hasn't stopped yet. I'll be joined by my highly entertaining co-host Daniel, as well as none other than our favourite community manager... Mycoldman, aka Mike Oldman! (Square Enix London Studios)

It doesn't end there for those that come as you may even get a chance to chat to Mike, Daniel and myself personally, maybe buy us a beer (or mojito?) or you might just be lucky enough to shake our hands. Speaking of hands, did I mention we have some awesome goodies to give away? That's right, some of those who come won't go away empty handed!

I've got less than two weeks now to sort out the guest list, and sadly numbers are very limited for this exclusive event. You will need to make sure you can get to London for 2.30-6pm GMT on Saturday 1st May, and are over the age of 18 (sorry, it is a club after all and they will check). If you can come, you will need to send an email with your contact details and The Final Show as the subject line to live@panauisland.com.

Remember, this is a first come first served opportunity so grab your seats quick!

Watch out for some more invitations being handed out later on in the week in all the usual Just Cause 2 spots.

Don't worry if you can't make it though, as it will be streamed live on the Internet like normal, but I will also be editing the footage into a proper episode for later enjoyment.

Mycoldman, that's not a bridge...

Earlier today, a tweet from Mycoldman showed us a picture of one of Mike's failed attempts at a bridge limbo. Though it's definitely not a bridge, it didn't stop him from trying...

By the way, I'll give you 10 seconds to look closer at the image before you realise something... ;)

From the team that brought you SA-MP... introducing JC2-MP!

It seems my predictions were pretty much spot on after my april fools stunt.

Check out this video of the upcoming Just Cause 2 mod, JC2-MP (unnamed yet, but will no doubt be named JC2-MP as the domain is registered as that).

It brings to the PC version a mode that everybody has been screaming for, multiplayer. The video shows a sync test between 2 players, and it looks pretty smooth to me.

Looks like I'm going to have to fork out £1,000 for a new PC... this mod definitely looks promising!

Europeans, grab the monster truck NOW!

It's official! The monster truck has finally come to the UK and the rest of Europe for a mere £0.79/€0.99.

Weighing in excess of 10,000lbs, the Just Cause 2 Monster Truck features pumped-up coil-sprung suspension and up-rated hydraulic shocks, coupled with industrial-sized, air filled terra tyres for one of the most unforgettable rides on the island... on land OR water! Taking-on any vehicle in its path, the Monster Truck can crush, bash, flatten and destroy, leaving nothing but a smouldering wreck in its wake. As if that wasn’t enough, the roof-mounted grenade launchers provide an extra layer of carnage for the concerned owner, allowing for maximum ranged destruction without damaging the custom firestorm paintwork.

The Just Cause 2 Monster Truck is available to download in Europe today for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

How to please a developer

It has come to my attention that Chris Dillon, producer at Square Enix London Studios, made a request the other day to one of the forum members to create a slow motion video of Just Cause 2 set to 'Send Me an Angel' by the Scorpions.

Forum user A.I. has done just that, and it really is a nice video!

Keep them coming guys, and don't forget to add your Just Cause 2 videos to the Directors Club!
